MEADOWBROOK CLUBHOUSE SLOWLY COMING TOGETHER

As difficult as it is to imagine green grass, tee times & patio beers, the folks at Ebert Construction have been making steady progress this winter on the new clubhouse at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Hopkins, MN. The steel & glulam structural system is in place, interior walls have been built out, and mechanical & electrical work is beginning to wrap up. There’s still a ways to go before the lounge opens to the public this coming April, but as each day passes, we are one step closer to Spring, to golf, and to the fantastic views offered by this new jewel of a clubhouse in the heart of the Twin Cities.

STEADY PROGRESS AT HUGO LIONS PARK

Exciting things are happening in Hugo! The pavilion’s steel frame and exterior wall framing has been going up quickly despite the bitter cold. The building features a large community gathering room that overlooks Lions Park. On our most recent site visit the framing is starting to reveal just how wonderful the views to the park are going to be. We are excited to see the finished product this Spring.

ESMF Wins Finance & Commerce Top Projects of 2020

Well there was not much to celebrate during 2020. But to hear that Finance & Commerce had recognized City of Minneapolis East Side Maintenance Facility as one of Minnesota’s top construction projects of 2020, was definitely one of those few bright spots. Thank you to the design team and everyone who had a hand in this project.

PeonyLaneTrailhead-16.jpg

The Northwest Greenway pavilion, located East of Peony Lane on a ridge of land overlooking the wetlands, was designed to be a 3-Season facility used as a community gathering place for large events, while also being a signature structure for the city. Some of the amenities it will offer include an adaptable plaza, parking, drinking fountains, restrooms, server room with sink & refrigerator, serving counter, and green room for events. The building and patio have connections to 7.5 miles of paved trails for walking and biking with scenic overlooks.

The newly constructed open-air pavilion features stone piers, steel construction, and rich wood tongue and groove ceilings in the main gathering space for the public. The configuration and orientation of the building maximize the views overlooking the wetlands.

(Update) Meadowbrook Clubhouse Design has been approved!

(Update) Meadowbrook Clubhouse Design has been approved!

In the nearly 100 years since its founding, Meadowbrook Golf Course has seen its share of changes. Through floods, storm damage and frigid winters, the one constant has been the unrelenting support of the Twin Cities golf community. So, in 2016 when a burst pipe caused irreparable damage to the clubhouse, golfers and staff immediately began brainstorming what the future of the golf course and the clubhouse might look like. Fast forward five years and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) has teamed with HCM Architects to answer that question.

Meadowbrook - Pergola Side Render.jpg

Working closely with MPRB which serves as both Owner and Landscape Architect, HCM and the design team of Loucks (Civil), BKBM (Structural) and Emanuelson Podas (MEP) have developed a conceptual scheme that looks to celebrate the rich history of Meadowbrook while looking well into the future. The compact yet flexible form will be made from durable, commodity materials that reflect the surrounding neighborhood. Relocating the clubhouse atop the hill also lends itself to future events where a large tent pad and outdoor vendor area are planned.

Go visit MPRB PARK & RECREATION BOARD for more information and get a peak of the plans!

A little whimsical cottage progress!

A little whimsical cottage progress!

An HCM Design by Roger Christensen for a close friend out east, built for his sister-in-law, this little cottage in Virginia sits on the owners’ farmland overlooking the picturesque views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The clean lines and bold black help it stand out amidst the beautiful mountainous backdrop. All the traditional elements and warmth of a typical cottage with a modern twist gives this little home a sleek, simplistic profile. Some of the design features include:
