Project Details
The City of Oakdale's new Public Works Facility represents a major civic investment—the first municipal building project in 35 years—delivered through comprehensive needs assessment, site master planning, and design leadership. Funded through local option sales tax, the project was delivered under budget on bid day through close coordination with the city and contractor, demonstrating our commitment to cost-effective design and delivery. As part of the project, we assisted Oakdale in developing design and building standards guiding future civic projects, establishing a legacy of design excellence beyond this single facility.
The design accommodates both current operational needs and future growth through flexible programming and careful spatial organization, with distinct entry points separating public, staff, and service traffic to enhance safety and efficiency. Located on a former 3M Superfund site, the project required coordination with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and watershed authorities to implement safe remediation. Although not officially LEED certified, the facility meets LEED Silver standards, demonstrating Oakdale's commitment to environmental stewardship and operational sustainability.
