While visiting the Sherwin Williams Campus in downtown Minneapolis, the HCMers that worked on the Sherwin Williams Design House last year took a little field trip to see how the house’s exterior turned out now that the plants are all blooming. Our team designed a simple and clean landscape for the House’s patio where Sherwin Williams will soon be hosting an event. Professional photographs of both the interior and exterior will be taken soon and then you can check out more about the project on our Corporate Projects page!
The City of Minneapolis ESS&MF project keeps chugging along as August comes to an end. Some exterior work is still being done and the construction of some of the interior spaces begins.
At this stage of construction, we can see some neat contrast between materials! Before the walls get closed up we can see the heavy concrete adjacent to a much lighter metal structure that will be covered when the building is complete.
Our team working with BioTechne keeps chugging along to get this project done. The construction crew is starting the process of sealing the walls up with sheet rock. Soon they’ll start the painting process, put in the flooring, and before we know it the residents of this office area will be moving in. But first, our team will continue to do weekly walk-throughs to make sure everything is going smoothly.
We’ve spotted a wild architect in his natural habitat. Here we see Roger Christensen checking that everything is going according to plan and answering any questions that come up.
It is always interesting watching walls going up!
As summer nears its end, the partners took the HCM family on a boat cruise at Lake Minnetonka as a “thank you” for doing some great work. Unlike with Gilligan, this three hour tour was full of food and fun for everyone! We set sail at dusk and rode around the lake, taking in the scenery as we went. Can’t wait to do it again next year!
The HCM Family was lucky enough to have beautiful weather for our second brat lunch this summer! Brat Team 2 departed from the traditional choice of serving brats and cooked up some delicious brisket instead. A lovely way to spend our day.
HCM Architects is currently working on transforming an open office space at the BioTechne Campus to breathe new light into the area. We are excited to see how well the construction is coming along with most of the framing already built. Our team walked around the site discussing the details that will make the space perfect! Another newly finished office area on the campus gives us a peek into the future of the open office furniture and finishes.
A few creative shots from the project site. Construction is a beautiful thing.
The City of Minneapolis East Side Storage & Maintenance Facility is making fast progress in our current spring weather. HCM enjoyed a sunny tour with our whole office to see progress and get out on a project site with our younger staff.
The Renovated Recreation Center at Painter Park in Minneapolis opens with a ribbon cutting ceremony on a sunny April 23. HCM, among a team of designers, brings full ADA accessibility, more efficient HVAC, lighting, updated interior finishes and rejuvenated spaces for the neighborhood to utilize. Our project opens up the lobby to a new reception area, MPRB Staff office, and meeting room.
In spite of the recent “spring” weather, the precast panels are starting to be installed at the City of Minneapolis ESS&MF project. The parking ramp structure is shaping up now that the weather has turned and our project is starting to look more like a building.
The sun streams across the new HCM workstations, on this, the second day of spring.
HCM is excited to share our latest update to Fire station #13. HCM has expanded our work station area by removing the wall between our conference room and the rest of the office. We now have four additional workstations and a whole lot of sun, an all around win.
Following the completion of the Anderson Pasture Warehouse Expansion, Anderson Windows in Garland Texas primes for the addition of a Compounder in their production space.
Interior work includes a new lab space, additional equipment and expanded storage.
Exterior work will include the addition of three vinyl silos housing raw material to be used in the new compounder for Fibrex Material Production.
A&P and Wells were busy setting the last of the precast concrete “tuck-under” panels on the ESS&MF project site yesterday.
The acid etched, charcoal gray panels look great and it is fun to see the first walls starting to enclose space on this project. Most of the form work and shoring are in place for the third level parking deck as well.
Lindsay and Natalia make quick work of the parking lot. Unfortunately, the snow was too fluffy for an HCM Snowman— there’s always the next storm!
HCM celebrated our 21st Anniversary last week at Fire Station 13. We had a great turn out and a delicious spread by Colossal catering with dessert by our next door neighbors the Dulceria Bakery. Thanks again to all who could attend and we hope to see you next year for the 22nd Anniversary! (Rumor has it there will be a pig on a spit).
The ESSF team braved 4 degree temperatures and a -7 windchill last week to make their first concrete pour for the Minneapolis East Side Storage & Maintenance Facility parking garage.
In December, the HCM team participated in some friendly office competition— bringing in comfort food favorites straight from the crockpot. The Crockpot Cookoff crown went to Nick Lager with his apple crumble dessert while runner up dishes included authentic homemade pierogi and mega mac & cheese.
The HCM team is excited to share our work for the new Protolabs Brooklyn Park building. Check out Protolabs’ timelapse of the space and ultimate move of 295 CNC machines!
Finalizing the shoring and reinforcement for our first PT deck pour at the City of Minneapolis East Side Storage & Maintenance Facility. You can see the parking ramp slope in the background of the shoring photo.
Cold weather, but a nice day to fly some rebar cages. Over 720 cy of concrete coming next week.
